Soul Searchers.

Jeffrey’s Bay really is the gift that keeps on giving! Every single time that I become convinced that I’ve seen all that this little surf town has to offer, another gem makes itself known. Meet Soul Searchers, a beautiful beachfront guesthouse on Tecoma Street. It’s pretty easy to find, which makes getting around town quick and convenient. When you’re vacationing in a beach town and are able to, why not make the most of it and stay in a place with an ocean view?

I appreciate little details like this, I love gorgeous rugs!!

Soul Searchers delivers just that. The guesthouse is a stone-throw away from the water and sits between two surf breaks, ‘Albatross’ and ‘Lower Point’.  Guests also have direct access to the beach right from within the property.

If you’re a surfer, then you’ll definitely appreciate the convenience of the location. You’ll also appreciate the small stroke of genius that is their 24/7 live web cam. Via a YouTube link, you can check out the waves and sea conditions, outside, from the comfort of your own bed.

Even if you’re not a surfer (yet!), like me, then long walks along the beach and afternoons seated in the upstairs living room overlooking the ocean are just as much of a treat. It also helps that Jeffrey’s Bay is a short driving distance away from several cycling trails, hiking trails, such as Lady Slipper, and spots such as the Tsitsikamma National Park, St Francis Bay and Cape St Francis. Jeffrey’s Bay also provides visitors with the option of activities such as wind-surfing, canoeing, horse-riding, skydiving and bungee jumping (for all the adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers out there).

If you had to ask me what the show-stopping feature of this guesthouse is, then I’d tell you the upstairs lounge and the upstairs deck in a heartbeat. It’s the kind of spectacular view that you just have to see for yourself. Photos don’t do it enough justice, but I sure tried!

The guesthouse gives visitors the option between 6 rooms, 5 of which are en-suite. The home also offers an upstairs living room area, kitchen, and outdoor deck, as well as a downstairs level with it’s own living room area, kitchen and outdoor deck. If you’re looking to have some more privacy, you can book either the whole house, or the entire upstairs or downstairs area as opposed to a single room.

It was a cold winter weekend but the sun still made an appearance.

Soul Searchers is owned by Mervyn (who is still an avid surfer in his 70s) and Shuna Herscovitz (who you’re sure to run into on the way to the beach for her daily ocean swim). They truly are the loveliest hosts. My mom and I were well received and felt right at home. Also present during our weekend stay were Shuna and Mervyn’s sons, Adam and Levi Herscovitz.

Soul Searchers first opened its doors in 2018 and it looks like it’s here to stay. If you’re ever in town and looking for a new place to visit, give Soul Searchers a try! You won’t regret it.

A huge thank you to Adam Herscovitz for the invite and the lovely photos.

Till next time!
